A team of cyclists from law firm Stone King are to cycle to London week (June 10) to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.

Thirteen riders will cover the 155-mile distance over two days, with the starting point the firm’s Bath office at Upper Borough Walls and the finish line its London office in the Barbican.

The intrepid cyclists will set off on June 10 and are aiming to raise as much money as possible for the cancer charity.

Their efforts have already been boosted by £1450 in donations, with the final tally set to increase after the event.

The ride is the brainchild of Stone King Chair Alison Allen, who had treatment for cancer last year.

“We know that this disease affects one in two of us and I am extremely fortunate to benefit from the huge amount of research that has gone before me,” she said.

“I am cycling as, for many people today, cancer is not a death sentence because of the life-saving research funded by charities like CRUK and this ride is a positive demonstration of that.

“However, I am also acutely aware that I am one of the lucky ones and there are so many people who are not as fortunate; there will be many others within the family of Stone King and beyond who have been affected by cancer.”

Cancer Research UK is the world's leading cancer charity dedicated to saving lives through research, influence and information. It supports research into all aspects of cancer through the work of over 4,000 scientists, doctors and nurses.
