Clare Wigzell
Associate Solicitor and Professional Support Lawyer

Clare is an Associate in the Education Team and advises both state-funded and independent schools on a wide range of pupil-related issues.

As the team’s Professional Support Lawyer, Clare is also responsible for ensuring that the team stays up-to-date with legal developments and maintaining resources.

Clare advises and supports schools on a range of operational pupil-focused issues including, but not limited to:

  • Safeguarding
  • Special Educational Needs
  • Equality Act
  • Parental complaints
  • Behaviour and Exclusions
  • Admissions
  • Attendance
  • Policy reviews
  • Compliance

Clare previously worked in-house at the Independent Schools Inspectorate where she provided advice on the regulatory requirements for independent schools and supported the inspectorate in its role as a core participant in the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse.   

Clare initially trained and qualified as a disputes lawyer at a large international law firm before moving into the Education Sector.

Clare read Modern Foreign Languages at the University of Oxford before completing the Graduate Diploma in Law at BPP Law School and the Legal Practice Course at the College of Law.

When her two young children permit it, Clare enjoys reading, gardening, travelling and running.
